Upcoming Strike Action
I am writing to you to outline the school’s action in light of the upcoming strikes from the NEU teaching union. Wednesday 1st February 2023 Thursday 2nd March 2023 Wednesday 15th March 2023 Thursday 16th March 2023 The strike is happening because of a national dispute between the unions and the government over pay, and not because of any issues at our school. I fully support the teacher’s right to strike, however do apologise in advance for any disruption caused to you and/or your child’s education. On the day of the strike, we will be inviting the following groups of children into school:
- Nursery (as this is childcare)
- Pupil premium children
- Looked-after children
- SEND children: children with EHCPs or under SEN support
- Children under child protection If you fall under any of the above categories, I will email you separately to confirm after this message.
According to DfE guidance, there is no obligation to teach the curriculum on strike days, we are not required to teach the national curriculum in any event. The DfE suggests that where the usual timetable is suspended, other enrichment activities can take place such as PE, Music, Art and Drama. For those children who will be learning at home, I will share some remote learning activities for each strike day. Thank you in advance for your support of our teachers, and please do not hesitate to get in touch with any questions.
